Qualifications

Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a HV Electrical Supervisor in Free State to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our HV Electrical Supervisou will supervise all HV&TX activities at site, monitor physical progress of the works and report status and deviations on quality, time, cost and HSSE, engage daily with the site managers of sub-suppliers. Support on PV Electrical scope when required.

Main responsibilities

  • Supervise all High Voltage activities at site including transmission line construction (HVTL), monitor physical progress of the works and report status and deviations on quality, time, cost and HSSE, engage daily with the site managers of sub-suppliers
  • When required support on the construction of electrical works element of the plant such as cables, inverters, MV transformers, communication, Illumination, CCTV systems, earthing systems, connection boxes, commissioning
  • Coordinate with Civil and Mechanical supervisors about their needs to supervise the High Voltage and Transmission Line scope on their disciplines
  • Align with Site Manager to have the correct distribution of the works of all supervisors among PV and HV / TL scope of work
  • During Commissioning and Mechanical Completion, responsible to coordinate the activities between other disciplines and contractor(s) / suppliers of key equipment involved on the process
  • Review and approve construction documentation submitted by contractors as Method Statements, request support and approval from the engineering team when required
  • Organize in cooperation with Sub-Contractor(s) and lead Pre-Construction Meetings related to all HV and TL activities, secure that activities at site only starts after common agreement from those meetings
  • Monitor physical progress from contractors daily, evaluate estimations to complete in cooperation with the planning team and demand action and/or recovery plans from contractors when needed
  • Handling communication of technical queries from suppliers and facilitation of discussion and resolution with Lead Engineer, Grid/HV Engineer and Electrical Engineer,secure that construction is always executed with the latest version of drawings, manuals and specifications

Qualifications and competencies

  • Degree/Diplomain Electrical Engineering or Electro/Mechanical Engineering
  • Specialization in Solar and/or renewables
  • Minimum5+ years’ experience working in the field of High Voltage equipment and systems/Transmission Lines
  • 3+ years’ experience working in the field of EPC in medium to large size construction projects
  • Knowledge about HV and TL best industry practices
  • Knowledge about Quality Control System, Root Cause Analysis, Pareto Analysis
  • Previous experience with Grid Operators and Regulatory Organizations related to the project (to be more specific based on the project)
  • 1+ years PV experience
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written
