Job summary

A busy abattoir operation in South Africa is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee the full HR function. The role requires strong expertise in compliance with labor laws and HR reporting along with a significant background in IR/ER practices. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of generalist HR experience, particularly in manufacturing or similar environments, and must be confident and resilient to work independently and closely with management.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years generalist HR experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, abattoir, or food environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end HR processes including recruitment and onboarding.
  • Ensure compliance with labor legislation and HR reporting.
  • Support line managers with disciplinary processes and investigations.
  • Oversee payroll input and HR administration.
  • Drive HR projects related to training and talent development.

SUMMARY: Meat Traders Abattoir is looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead the full HR function at our busy operation in Queenstown. You will be a hands on business partner to management, driving HR compliance, workforce planning and people development in a fast paced, blue collar environment.

POSITION INFO

Key focus areas:

  • Lead endâ toâ end HR: recruitment, onboarding, performance, IR/ER and exits.
  • Ensure compliance with SA labour legislation, policies and HR reporting.
  • Support line managers with disciplinary processes, investigations and CCMA preparation.
  • Oversee payroll input, HR administration and accurate HR data and records.â
  • Drive HR projects such as EE, training, talent development and engagement initiatives.â
REQUIREMENTS
  • Relevant HR degree / diploma.
  • 5+ years generalist HR experience, including strong IR/ER exposure.
  • Experience in manufacturing/abattoir/food or similar industrial environment advantageous.â
  • Confident, resilient and able to work independently with staff at all levels.
