HR Business Partner – South Africa
Position Purpose

As a HR Business Partner (HRBP) within AMEA Power in South Africa you will support on the development and implementation of people initiatives for all our employees across South Africa.

HRBP will serve as a trusted advisor, helping the business to develop and implement HR initiatives that attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering an inclusive and performance-driven culture.

This role requires excellent communication, collaborative and coordinating skills.

Acts with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality at all times and is a key source of human resource advice and support for the senior management team.

Reporting to: Head of HR and Head of South Africa Office.

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the senior stakeholders and Head of HR (based in Dubai) to understand and support the business context and progress initiatives to address employee relation, recruitment needs, and all the HR initiatives for South Africa office.

Management of Employee Relations cases, along with HR team for South Africa office from an end-to-end delivery perspective including final outcomes, whilst ensuring the company compliance with employment legislation.

Develop HR policies and procedure in alignment with corporate office and South Africa labour laws and regulation.

Support employees with resolving employee and manager queries (e.g., probation reviews, policy advice, sickness absence, parental leave, disciplinary, and grievance).

Support local business leaders in running seamless performance and reward processes.

Deal with people requests promptly, managing people's expectations on speed of response.

Manage recruitment, selection and hiring initiatives for all the projects in South Africa.

Arrange and undertake exit interviews for employees, including collation and analysis of trend data.

Responsible for local employee onboarding and offboarding activities.

Oversee talent development programs and be proactive in succession planning, ensuring there is a pipeline of skilled talent for leadership roles within the company.

Manage the payroll and employee benefits for all South Africa employees.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the HR service to the business, look for and make improvements to our processes to ensure they are efficient and ensure we are providing excellent service to our employees.

Contribute towards providing meaningful analytics to enable business improvement (e.g. exit interview summaries, absence data, headcount reports, start and leaver reports).

Work closely with the local team and HR team to ensure a seamless process in relation to all HR administration.

Implementing Diversity Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, ensuring diverse hiring practices, and promoting an inclusive culture.

Ensuring compliance with safety standards and promoting employee well-being is essential.

This includes overseeing health and safety training programs and being involved in safety audits.

Implementing wellness programs to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity can be another focus, considering the high-demand, high-stress nature of some renewable energy roles.

Qualifications & Experience

8+ years of experience in HR, with at least 2 years in a business partner role within the renewable energy, engineering, or sustainable development sectors.

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.

CIPD, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or related HR certifications.

Related / Technical Skills

Strong understanding of renewable energy industry trends, technologies, and workforce needs.

Proven track record in talent acquisition, employee relations and knowledge of South Africa labor law and regulations.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

Knowledge of labor laws, compliance, and ESG regulations related to the energy sector.

Strong data analysis and HR reporting skills, with the ability to generate actionable insights from metrics.
