About the Graduate Outreach Officer role

Are you a Newcastle University student who will graduate from an undergraduate degree in 2026 or who graduated from a Newcastle University undergraduate degree in 2025? We are recruiting for our 2025-26 Graduate Outreach Officer Team and we want to hear from you!

Our team of seven Graduate Outreach Officers play a vital role supporting the access projects outlined in the University\'s Access and Participation Plan. As a Graduate Outreach Officer you will deliver workshops and presentations to encourage young people from all backgrounds to consider higher education and to apply to Newcastle University.

You will be travelling across the UK to visit schools, colleges and Higher Education fairs as well as supporting activity online. In 2024-25 the team delivered 700 activities to over 100,000 students and visited more than 400 schools in 50 counties across the UK.

As a recent graduate of Newcastle University we think you are the best person to speak to young people about what it is like to study at our university. You are engaging and enthusiastic about higher education and the doors it can open. Speaking to someone like you could make the difference in helping inspire a young person and their choices.

Meet the team and find out about the role

We are hosting an information event giving you the opportunity to meet the Outreach Team and discover more about the role.

  • Time and date: Wednesday 18 February
  • Location: The Boiler House

There will be a presentation followed by an open opportunity for questions and discussion. During this event you will have the opportunity to chat with members of the Outreach Team including current colleagues who have been delivering Outreach with the team since September. You will also receive guidance on the application process from the Outreach Team.

Your profile

We are looking for people who can demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. You are enthusiastic about the benefits of higher education and motivated to inspire the next generation of Newcastle University students.

You are an engaging presenter able to tailor your approach across different contexts and to a range of audiences. You\'ll be a team player who can also work independently and use your initiative. You have a positive outlook and a solution-focused approach when faced with challenges.

This role involves extensive travel across the UK including frequent long-distance driving, regular overnight stays and a willingness to work evenings and weekends as required. You will be comfortable with remote working and demonstrate the resilience and flexibility needed to manage prolonged periods away from home while maintaining a high standard of performance.

You need a full UK driving licence at the point of interview and will be required to complete health surveillance and declaration. You will additionally be required to take an enhanced DBS check as the role involves working with children and young people. During term time you will work from the office when not on visits. During school holidays there are working from home opportunities.

As a Graduate Outreach Officer you\'ll be supporting us to deliver on our Access and Participation Plan which aims to increase the number of applications received from students who are currently underrepresented at our University. We are particularly keen to hear from PARTNERS students. Please indicate via the application form if you are a PARTNERS student.

Contract start date: Tuesday 28 July 2026

Contract end date: Friday 27 August 2027
