Job description

Manage all golf and golf-related activities and business.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Plan, promote, and direct all golf activities.
  2. Prepare annual and monthly budgets for golf operations and take corrective actions as necessary to meet budget goals.
  3. Ensure correct implementation of pin positions, tee positions, and dustbin placements.
  4. Maintain sufficient course equipment such as rakes, drinking water, tee signs, buggy signs, roped-off areas, GUR signs, and wet area signs.
  5. Oversee green speed and condition, ensuring they meet standards or as directed by the committee.
  6. Coordinate with the greenskeeper on maintenance issues affecting playability.
  7. Assist in developing short-term and long-term improvement plans for the golf course.
  8. Order supplies related to golfing activities after confirmation by the CEO.
  9. Support the Pro Shop with check-ins, scoring, and cash-ups when necessary.
  10. Manage the club’s handicaps and handicapping system.
  11. Oversee all league teams entered by the club, particularly managing the scratch league team, and coordinate uniforms and team-building activities.
  12. Consult with the Club Shop on appearance and stock levels.
  13. Supervise, train, and evaluate golf personnel including staff in the pro shop, locker rooms, driving range, golf bag and club storage, and on-course personnel.
  14. Plan professional development and training activities for staff.
  15. Schedule staff rosters to ensure full service coverage while maintaining labor costs.
  16. Manage the Ladies section and assist with member-related issues.
  17. Play golf with members of all skill levels to promote enthusiasm.
  18. Oversee charges and fees for golf-related activities in conjunction with the CEO and committee as necessary.
  19. Consult with the CEO regarding course and practice area operations and maintenance, conducting daily course inspections.
  20. Attend all relevant staff, management, golf committee, and other meetings.
  21. Adhere to health, safety, and employment regulations.
  22. Administer green fee systems and bookings, and coordinate with the driving range on appearance and quality.
  23. Plan social events to promote golf and fellowship among members and guests.
  24. Attend national and sectional conferences, meetings, and shows as needed.
  25. Enforce club rules, golf rules, policies, and regulations.
  26. Manage golf operations including staff for corporate golf days, bookings, and arrangements for golf groups, clubs, and societies.
  27. Maintain visibility to members during tee-offs and in the clubhouse, promoting proactive marshalling.
  28. Organize and conduct club tournaments and related events, including poster creation, score recording, and rules management.
  29. Manage and train caddies, providing regular instruction on pitch mark fixing and bunker repair, based on golf day caddie requirements and availability.

HOURS OF WORK

The usual shifts are from 05:45 to 15:00 or 10:00 to 18:00 during weekdays. On golf days, the director must ensure coverage until prize giving is completed. The director is also expected to work three weekends per month, with hours from at least 05:30 until 18:00 in summer.
