  • Collaborating to support project team members to interpret and integrate geochemical and geological data to identify drill targets or progress geological understanding.
  • Collaborating with other technical specialists to jointly improve the AER exploration portfolio through interpreting results of 2D and 3D datasets and applying these interpretations to generate new targets, identify extensions to known mineralisation and to deliver improved testing of existing targets.
  • Collaborating with other Generative Team geoscientists to provide integrated interpretations with recommendations on new opportunities.
  • Proactively engaging with geoscientists, data managers and the management team to identify opportunities for more effective delivery of geochemical results and better integration of diverse datasets.
  • Developing technical capability of our geoscientists by embedding both RTX and industry best practice through sharing knowledge, building skills, coaching and mentoring.
  • Keeping track of industry developments and identifying opportunities to implement value‑adding techniques with the ability to impact discovery.

  • 5 years of experience in mineral exploration: surface sampling, core logging, analytical methods, QA/QC monitoring, integrated interpretations, drilling techniques, and an understanding of exploration program design and implementation.
  • Application of geochemistry through postgraduate qualifications and/or industry experience or a keen desire to develop your geochemical experience further.
  • Working exposure to common exploration software including ioGAS Acquire / MX Deposit, ArcGIS and Leapfrog.
  • Proven project experience, strong adaptability, accountability and problem‑solving skills.
  • High proficiency in English (verbal and written) is required; other languages (e.g., French, Portuguese, Russian) would be beneficial.
  • The ability to present to teams, peers and superiors with confidence and credibility and to produce high‑quality reports and presentations with clear, concise recommendations.
  • Be able to participate in field/site visits.
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability and Rio Tinto’s core values of Care, Courage and Curiosity.
What we offer
  • A work environment where safety is always the number one priority.
  • Leave for all of life’s reasons (vacation / annual paid parental sick leave).
  • Employee Assistance Program.
