Busy wholesaling and distribution operation in Cape Town is looking to employ a Financial Manager.

We are looking for an experienced financial professional to accurately report on the financial results, manage the company’s financial affairs and provide guidance to those responsible for daily financial activities.

Qualifications
  • Relevant Finance Degree PLUS at least 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Proven track record of managing complex financial environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, corporate taxation, and financial governance
  • Experience preparing and presenting Board‑ready financials and strategic insights
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems, ERP platforms and data analysis tools
Duties
  • Formulate and execute financial business strategy to attain goals.
  • Prepare annual financial action plan, assign responsibility, and monitor progress to ensure objectives are met in a cost‑effective manner.
  • Provide sound financial support and insight to top management to facilitate critical business decisions and ensure the company’s financial performance.
  • Implement effective financial strategies, drive financial operations and improve financial performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and efficiency initiatives to improve competitiveness and customer service.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, revenue flows are maximised and fixed costs are minimised.
  • Prepare and review monthly and annual reports for discussion and approval by the Group Finance Executive.
  • Review monthly reports to ascertain “actual versus budget” and report and recommend corrective action on any deviations.
  • Oversee update of assets register bi‑annually and account for depreciation.
  • Ensure that all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Assist in negotiations with customers, service providers, banking institutions and other key contacts to secure the most effective contract terms.
  • Manage the company’s taxation affairs.
  • Assist Group Finance Executive with managing the cash flow.
  • Manage and oversee banking and borrowing arrangements.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, treasury, daily financial management and management accounting functions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with service providers, contractors, accountants, auditors and banking institutions.
  • Assist with commercial decision‑making from tender analysis, margin analysis and pricing analysis.
  • Oversee the management and motivation of teams to achieve objectives while developing talent.
  • Ensure recruitment and training and development are in line with Employment Equity and Skills Development goals.
  • Ensure that vision, mission and strategic objectives are clear to all stakeholders.
  • Support and ensure legal and legislative compliance in terms of Employment Equity, Skills Development, OHS, Labour‑ and Industrial Relations.
