FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT (MANUFACTURING)

Location: BEDFORDVIEW, JOHANNESBURG, GAUTENG PROVINCE

Minimum Essential Qualifications

  • B. Comm Degree: Accounting Financial Management
  • Minimum of 5–8 years solid experience in the role of Accountant
  • Industry experience and exposure within the X industry
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English & Afrikaans
  • Highly experienced in: BOMs, Job costing and manufacturing industry experience
  • Computer proficiency: MS Office, Syspro Accounting programmes
  • Duties include: Financial Accounting, Creditors & Expenses, Cashbook, Recordkeeping & filing, Internal controls, Fixed Assets, Annual Audits, Budgeting, Management of Manufacturing Distribution Centre and Procurement Divisions
  • Highly experienced within a large corporate environment
  • Experience within a large multi-network of branches/sites across the country
  • Open to extensive travel between HQ and branches
  • Own reliable vehicle & valid Driver's Licence (no endorsements)
Responsibilities / Duties
  • Financial Accounting: Responsible for the trial balance, income statement & balance sheet
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Processing and recordkeeping of all adjustment journals to be approved by Group Financial Manager & Director
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis (inventory costing and work in progress)
  • Preparation and reporting on monthly management accounts to management
  • Performing day end, month end and year end on SYSPRO system
  • Expense provisions management
  • Nedfleet management
  • Creditors & Expenses: Loading payments on bank when required
  • Internal controls regarding creditors in accordance with Company standard limit of authority
  • Reviewing allocated Creditors teams and managing Clerks
  • Cashbook: Petty cash processing of documentation
  • Recordkeeping & Filing: Managing and overseeing of filing of all required documentation
  • Internal Control: Ensure internal controls at branches are in accordance with Company standard and relevant legislation; limit of authority
  • Reviewing, designing, documenting and implementing systems of internal control
  • Communication and training of internal controls to relevant staff
  • Regular internal audits at branches
  • Fixed Assets: Updating and reconciling of fixed asset registers
  • Ensure depreciation is processed monthly
  • Preparation of a profit and loss on sale or write off schedule
  • Handling purchase documents for new assets; create purchase order after approval from ExCom
  • Instalment Sales Agreements
  • Allocation of interest paid and deferred interest: Balancing of ISA control account to monthly statements
  • Yearly asset verification
  • Annual audit (As part of the financial team): Preparation of audit file, Liaising with auditors, Resolving auditors queries, Processing of year end journals
  • Budgeting: Liaising with management on preparation of annual budget, Capturing of budget into Syspro, Comparing and reviewing monthly variance of actual to budget
Skills & Experience
  • Experience required within the Manufacturing Industry / Sector as well as working with bill of materials (BOMs) within the Steel Industry
  • Inventory work in progress experience / management required within the Manufacturing industry
  • Syspro experience required / will be advantageous
  • Looking for a candidate who has completed their Accounting Degree / Management Accounting
  • Minimum 5–8 years experience required as an Accountant within a Manufacturing / Retail industry
  • Must have a strong personality
  • Candidate must have a stable work record
  • Candidate must be presentable and have good communication skills
  • Candidate must not crack under pressure
  • Very deadline driven oriented
