Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking Trade-Tested Field Service & Workshop Technicians for permanent positions in Bloemfontein. Candidates will work with advanced equipment in both workshop and field settings, ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience in the field and a keen understanding of material handling equipment.

Qualifications

  • Trade-Tested Technician in relevant fields.
  • 3+ years of technical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, preventative maintenance & repairs.
  • Manage breakdown calls, job cards, and service documentation.
  • Ensure all technical and compliance records are up to date.

Skills

Strong working knowledge of MEWPs and Material Handling Equipment
Diagnostic expertise in hydraulics, electrics, mechanics & electronics
Proficient in reading technical diagrams, schematics, and diagnostics tools
Computer & communication literate: MS Office, smartphones, technical apps
Willingness to travel to client sites and operate independently

Education

Trade-Tested Technician: Millwright / Diesel / Auto Electrical / Fitter / Mechatronics

Field Service & Workshop Technicians required in Bloemfontein.

A well-established national industry leader—servicing clients across Mining, FMCG, Logistics, Construction, Manufacturing, Energy, Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Retail etc. are looking for high-calibre Trade-Tested Field Service & Workshop Technicians to join their team in Free State (Bloemfontein, Vaal, Sasolburg).

These permanent positions offers the chance to work with advanced lifting and material handling equipment across both workshop and field environments, with opportunities to grow into specialised and high-demand roles in technical diagnostics, inspections, and digital servicing.

Preferred Equipment Experience Includes:
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs):
    • Boom Lifts, Scissor Lifts, Vertical & Personnel Lifts
      Cherry Pickers, Mast Boom Lifts, Articulated Lifts
    • Trailer Mounted, Compact Crawlers, Telescopic Boom Lifts
    • Suspended Access Systems, Construction Hoists & Elevators
  • Telehandlers & Attachments:
    • Forks, Material Buckets, Hooks, Concrete Ladles
  • Material Handling Equipment:
    • Forklifts (Electric / IC), Reach Trucks, Order Pickers
    • Pallet Stackers, E-Trucks, Tractor Loader Backhoes, Skid Steers
    • Lifting & Load Testing Equipment
    • Mini Cranes
  • Bonus Advantage (Not Essential):
  • Exposure to leading industry brands such as JLG, Genie, Magni, Manitou, Linde, Toyota, Haulotte, Hyster, Faresin, Jekko, Dingli, TSPs, SkyClimber Alpha, Comact Hoists, GEDA, or other Material Handling and Lifting Equipment brands
  • Experience with load testing, lifting gear inspections, and compliance documentation
  • Prior work on mining, industrial, construction, or FMCG sites with an understanding of high-safety environments
  • Strong knowledge of fleet telemetry, remote diagnostics, IoT tools, and digitally enabled service platforms

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, preventative maintenance & repairs
  • Conduct functional and load tests; ensure mine- or site-spec compliance
  • Manage breakdown calls, job cards, and service documentation
  • Maintain service tools, vehicle stock, and safety gear
  • Complete PDIs, customer handovers, and off-loading inspections
  • Participate in standby/call-out duties and national site visits as needed
  • Ensure all technical and compliance records are up to date and audit-ready
Requirements:
  • Trade-Tested Technician: Millwright / Diesel / Auto Electrical / Fitter / Mechatronics
  • 3+ Years’ technical experience post-qualification
  • Strong working knowledge of MEWPs and Material Handling Equipment
  • Diagnostic expertise in hydraulics, electrics, mechanics & electronics
  • Proficient in reading technical diagrams, schematics, and diagnostics tools
  • Solid understanding of OHSA safety, risk, and inspection protocols
  • Computer & communication literate: MS Office, smartphones, technical apps
  • Driver’s Licence (Code 08 min) and clear criminal record
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and operate independently
