Job description
Overview

SUMMARY: If you are an experienced Fibre Network Planner who enjoys working between site, planning, and quality, and you take pride in producing accurate, build-ready documentation, this role offers hands-on involvement across the full fibre deployment lifecycle.

POSITION INFO: You’ll be working on active fibre rollout projects where accuracy matters, drawings are used on the ground, and your planning directly impacts build quality and network performance. A well-established organisation in the telecommunications and fibre infrastructure space is looking to appoint a Telecoms Network Planner – Fibre to support projects from initial site survey through to final network handover. This is a practical, delivery-focused role combining site work, technical planning, and quality control. You’ll engage with civil teams, fibre floating teams, splicers, and quality managers to ensure that planning documentation is accurate, compliant, and build-ready.

Why this role stands out:

  • You’re involved across the full fibre lifecycle, not just behind a desk
  • Strong balance between fieldwork and planning
  • Your work directly supports construction, splicing, and network activation
  • Trusted with responsibility rather than micromanaged
Responsibilities
  • Conducting on-site surveys of telecom routes and existing infrastructure
  • Taking measurements, opening and inspecting manholes, and assessing usable infrastructure
  • Producing complete planning packs including civil layouts, fibre floating plans, and splicing diagrams
  • Creating wayleave drawings for council submissions
  • Compiling and verifying as-built documentation after construction
  • Reviewing as-built information from site teams to ensure accuracy
  • Capturing and validating network data on OSP Insight
  • Managing queries and rejections between As-Build and Quality teams
  • Supporting splicing teams with correct fibre allocations
  • Assisting with fault reference allocation where required
What we’re looking for
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in fibre network planning
  • Solid understanding of fibre infrastructure, OSP planning, and as-built processes
  • Strong practical experience conducting site surveys
  • Confident using Microsoft Visio for planning and drawings
  • Experience working with as-built documentation and quality checks
  • Exposure to OSP Insight will be highly advantageous
Additional requirements
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • Your own reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to travel to sites as part of your role
