Job description

Join our client in the electrical distribution industry.

Key responsibilities:
  • Analyse geographic areas to understand key customers and sales opportunities within identified areas of responsibility through market visits.
  • Define routines and call cycles for managing the operations in a professional / sustainable way, in line with routines matrix set out by Head of Sales.
  • Adhere to the Skynamo sales activity reporting on daily basis and report any deviations thereon.
  • Update customer base regularly to ensure effective planning, correct targets and customer engagement.
  • Work closely with Internal Sales Representative to ensure quotations are accurate and most importantly are converted into sales.
  • Execute the promotional activities and sales initiatives in conjunction with Key Account Managers and ensure that merchandising in the store is maximised.
  • In-store price compliance through margin management is critical and a must for the Sales Representative.
  • Plan and actively involved in trade shows and breakfast runs in your area.
  • Manage and secure sufficient Point of Sales (posters, flyers) and samples are shared with customers to drive sales and visibility.
  • Sign up new accounts for growth and to increase the client's footprint in both Retail and Wholesale Channels.
  • Ensure that the non-buying account and lost lines are closely monitored, and the plan is in place to convert monthly.
  • Conduct competitor activities to keep abreast of the trends and innovation.
  • Work side by side with sister companies to derive value and collaborations through joint initiatives.
  • Understand partners’ key business priorities and how to influence and work closely with them.
  • Do monthly business reviews with key customers in line with business plan vs set targets.
  • Travelling regionally as required at times with an overnight stay.
Qualifications & experience:
  • Matric certificate or equivalent (a post-matric undergraduate technical or commercial qualification is advantageous).
  • 3–5 years of B2B sales experience, preferably in industrial electrical, automation or technical products.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM platforms (SAP, Salesforce, etc.), with a strong K8 knowledge.
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle (travel required).
Knowledge & skills:
  • Proven track record as a leading sales representative with a hands‑on, accountable and mature approach.
  • In‑depth understanding of the electrical industry, including market structure, key players and business practices.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand margins, profits and market trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to close sales deals, upsell, and cross‑sell using value‑based and solution‑oriented approaches.
  • Experience with consultative sales and relationship‑based account management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and motivate others.
  • Effective team collaboration as well as the ability to work independently with responsibility.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, including critical thinking and strategic decision‑making.
  • Skilled in developing business strategies and translating them into actionable plans.
  • Well‑organised, results‑driven and capable of prioritising tasks under pressure.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and documentation.
  • Professional personal presentation and confident company representation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong presentation skills for delivering technical and commercial value propositions.
