Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Manager to lead the delivery of high‑impact technical advisory, auditing, and optimisation services across Matriarch’s utilities and energy portfolio.

This role requires deep energy expertise, strong analytical capability, and the ability to translate complex technical findings into meaningful business insights. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, provide technical support to internal stakeholders, and drive enhancements to our reporting, tools, and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Advisory & Analysis
  • Lead and execute detailed energy audits, due diligence reviews, and efficiency assessments across commercial and industrial environments
  • Analyse utility performance, cost recovery, tariff structures, and regulatory alignment to identify optimisation opportunities
  • Deliver high‑quality technical outputs including EPCs, energy balance reports, tariff feasibility studies, and cost recovery analysis
  • Ensure NERSA‑aligned tariff application and accurate client billing across the full portfolio
Reporting & Insights
  • Produce monthly recovery reports for utilities management clients (energy balance, expense vs recovery, council reconciliation)
  • Provide commentary on under‑recoveries and propose corrective strategies
  • Support directors with ad hoc reporting and strategic insights
Internal Collaboration & Innovation
  • Mentor team members across Asset Management and Utilities Management, contributing to capability development
  • Collaborate with the Innovation Team to improve energy reporting tools, dashboards, and bespoke system enhancements
  • Provide technical inputs to the New Business team for pricing, SLAs, proposals, and solution design
  • Support the development of new energy‑focused products and tools that align with market needs
Client Engagement
  • Represent Matriarch as a senior technical expert in client meetings, presentations, and consultations
  • Assist in building business cases and resolving complex queries to support client decision‑making
  • Ensure SLAs are upheld and service delivery meets Matriarch’s quality standards
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Science, or related discipline (preferred)
  • Energy Management Certification advantageous (e.g., CMVP, EPC accreditation)Proven experience in energy auditing, utilities management, or technical advisory roles
  • Strong understanding of C&I energy systems, tariff structures, regulatory frameworks, and optimisation strategies
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement skills
Skills and Competencies
  • Accuracy, quality, and clarity of all technical reports, statements, and client‑facing communications
  • Strong collaboration with Innovation, New Business, and Utilities teams to support continuous improvement
  • Effective monitoring and improvement of recovery strategies and energy performance across the portfolio
