Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the final stages of a large-scale power generation project. This is a role requiring a highly skilled professional with deep technical expertise, strong engineering governance capability, and proven experience in complex utility or heavy‑industrial environments.

The appointed engineer will play a critical role in supporting the completion of outstanding design, implementation, and technical assurance activities—ensuring the delivery of a safe, compliant, fully integrated, and operationally reliable plant.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide full‑Spectrum Electrical Engineering support, including:

  • Developing project Scopes of Work and associated project documentation
  • Conducting Technical Assurance activities in line with Design Review Procedures
  • Reviewing and approving design documentation, including data books
  • Identifying and managing engineering design changes
  • Performing handover activities, including plant walk‑downs
  • Resolving complex technical challenges
  • Developing outage‑related scopes of work
  • Ensuring built plant reflects approved design and commissioning requirements
  • Supporting construction and commissioning teams by interpreting and validating design documentation
  • Ensuring reliability, availability, maintainability, safety, and quality during manufacturing, construction, and commissioning
  • Monitoring compliance of construction and commissioning activities with approved designs
  • Integrating designs across disciplines and consolidating documentation
  • Identifying short‑ and long‑term engineering resource needs
  • Identifying requirements for specialist engineering expertise
  • Reporting on engineering progress, risks, and non‑conformance
  • Coordinating inputs from all site disciplines
  • Regular engagement with clients to gather requirements and provide engineering updates
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Applying engineering controls to ensure delivery on schedule and within budget
  • Managing conflict and resolving delivery issues at critical stages
  • Coordinating engineering schedules, cost estimates, and scope development
  • Facilitating interactions between Engineering and partner organizations
  • Auditing manufacturing and construction supervisory processes
  • Leading daily integration meetings to sequence design activities
  • Accepting design responsibilities as defined by Construction Regulations, within professional competence
Requirements
  • 10–19 years’ experience in Electrical Engineering aligned to the scope of work
  • Minimum 5 years post‑ECSA registration
  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in large power generation, industrial plants, or similar environments
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance, technical assurance, and construction/commissioning integration
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating multiple disciplines
  • Excellent stakeholder and client engagement skills
  • Proof of qualifications required (SAQA‑verified)
