Job description

Vacancy: CONSERVATION MANAGER

Area: Sabi Sands - KNP

Industry: Tourism / Hospitality

Requirements:

• Minimum of Master’s degree in applied ecology, environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field. (PhD will be an advantage).
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in conservation management,
• Specific experience in veld management, ecological restoration, research programmes and wildlife management in a ‘Big 5’ conservation environment.
• Strong knowledge of South African ecosystems and biodiversity.
• Solid grasp of statutory requirements in terms of protected area management.
• Excellent communication in English, (written and verbal), Afrikaans and Shangaan would be advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in MS Office, GIS and other relevant software such as Earth Ranger.
• Drone and camera trap experience
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of environmental legislation and policies in South Africa.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and experience of 4x4 driving
• Good physical fitness
• Sound financial and budget management skills, and strong administration skills.
