Job description

Our client, an upmarket Wine Estate, is seeking a skilled CDP with a strong focus on the Pastry section to join their team. This is an urgent placement, and the position needs to be filled as soon as possible.

The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items for the pastry section of the kitchen and must maintain quality standard as set out by the Executive Chef.

Responsibility to staff and direct the team :
  • To be responsible for the preparation and cooking for the pastry section of the kitchen
  • Assist and assume responsibility as directed for ordering and obtaining supplies for the pastry section of the kitchen.
  • Quality control of all supplies, food, kitchen hygiene and safety
  • Adhere to statutory obligations and agreed quality and best practice guidelines
  • Day to day responsibilities for the team as agreed with your Line Manager to include :
  • Ensuring compliance to sanitation, hygiene, health and safety legislation and organizational and quality requirements
  • Co-ordinate food preparation relating to the pastry section of the kitchen
  • Prepare and cook food relating to the pastry section of the kitchen
  • Effective liaison, support and assistance with the remainder of organization
  • Set an example for team members of commitment, work ethic and habits and personal character
Non-Negotiable :
  • Must have at least two years' experience in same role
  • Own reliable transport as estate is not on public transport route
  • Able to work shifts
  • Must be fluent in English
  • South African citizen
  • Able to start immediately or within two weeks
  • Able to work a single shift to show skillset
