Job description

We are currently seeking a Business Intelligence & Strategy Specialist to be based in our Johannesburg office, supporting the Sub‑Saharan Africa market. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping strategic decisions by translating complex data into clear, actionable insights, driving a data‑led mindset across the business, while identifying market trends, opportunities, and risks that inform growth and strategic direction.

What will you do?
  • Driving adoption and effective use of advanced data and intelligence tools (including SE Intel) across the organisation.
  • Training and enabling stakeholders to confidently use BI tools for informed decision‑making.
  • Collecting, analysing, and interpreting macroeconomic, industry, competitive, and market data.
  • Producing regular market intelligence reports, dashboards, and strategic insights for senior leadership.
  • Developing and maintaining BI dashboards and visualisations to track key business and performance indicators.
  • Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and relevance across all reporting outputs.
  • Identifying emerging trends, growth opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Supporting strategic planning, pricing strategies, forecasting, and scenario modelling.
  • Partnering with cross‑functional teams to align intelligence outputs with broader business objectives.
What skills and capabilities will make you successful
  • Strong experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, SE Intel, or similar platforms).
  • Solid understanding of macroeconomic indicators, market research techniques, and competitive analysis.
  • Advanced analytical thinking with the ability to interpret large and complex data sets.
  • Strong data visualisation skills able to simplify and communicate insights clearly.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to train and influence diverse audiences.
  • Structured, detail‑oriented approach with a strong focus on data accuracy and quality.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to connect insights to business strategy and outcomes.
What's in it for you?
  • Exposure to strategic decision‑making and senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Hands‑on experience with advanced market intelligence and BI tools.
  • Opportunity to shape how data is used to influence strategy and growth.
  • Continuous learning through working with macroeconomic, industry, and competitive insights.
  • Career development within Business Intelligence, Strategy, or Commercial Analytics pathways.
  • The chance to make a tangible impact by turning insight into action.
Who will you report to?
  • You will report directly to the Head of Business Development & Strategy / Data.
  • This is a key individual contributor role within a collaborative, cross‑functional environment. You will work closely with stakeholders across strategy, business development, leadership, and operational teams, acting as a trusted intelligence and insights partner rather than a people manager.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong foundational training in quantitative analysis, economics, or data‑driven disciplines.
  • Experience in market intelligence, business intelligence, or analytical roles (regional or global exposure is an advantage).
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and data‑driven decision‑making frameworks.
  • Exposure to sectors such as energy management, industrial automation, or complex B2B environments is beneficial but not essential.
