Story of Emily is an immersive living museum set in the restored family home of Emily Hobhouse. We’re seeking an experienced Attractions Manager to lead daily operations, inspire a small team, and deliver engaging high‑quality visitor experiences that bring South African and Anglo‑Boer War history to life through storytelling and innovative interpretation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Welcome & Museum Host team
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations, duty management, and exhibit performance
  • Ensure outstanding educational and immersive visitor experiences
  • Develop and deliver tours, workshops, events and new guest experiences
  • Support interpretation and implementation of new exhibits and content
  • Collaborate with marketing on content and visitor growth initiatives

About You:

  • Bachelor’s degree (General Arts or related)
  • Proven experience managing a museum heritage site or visitor attraction
  • Strong knowledge of South African and Anglo‑Boer War history
  • Confident communicator with excellent storytelling skills
  • Experienced people manager with a guest‑focused mindset
  • Creative, detail‑oriented and comfortable with emerging technologies
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
  • Full clean driving licence
