Our client, a leading and well-respected Dealer group is looking to employ a talented, Red Seal certified individual to fulfil the role of Assistant Workshop Manager.

The Assistant Workshop Manager plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing daily workshop operations to ensure vehicles are serviced and repaired right the first time, in line with manufacturer standards. This role supports the Workshop Manager in driving operational efficiency, team performance, CSI results and profitability while maintaining a strong customer‑centric approach.

Remuneration

Market related plus lucrative performance-based incentive structure – benefits including Provident Fund and Medical Aid.

Duties include
  • Assist in managing daily workshop operations to ensure productivity, quality and turnaround targets are met
  • Support leadership and motivation of technicians, apprentices, service advisors and support staff
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced and repaired to OEM standards and "fixed first time" principles
  • Drive customer satisfaction and assist with managing customer queries and escalations
  • Monitor workflow, labour utilisation and efficiency to achieve labour sales and profit targets
  • Assist with warranty administration, ensuring claims are processed accurately and timeously
  • Support inventory management, stock control and parts coordination with relevant departments
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene standards within the workshop
  • Maintain accurate administrative records and workshop reporting
  • Work closely with Parts, Service, Sales and Support teams to ensure seamless operations
Requirements
  • Matric / Grade 12 with a recognised motor trade test certificate (Red Seal)
  • Tertiary qualification in management, operations, finance, sales or similar will be advantageous
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience within a dealership service workshop environment
  • Previous experience as a Workshop Foreman, Assistant Workshop Manager, Service Manager or Senior Service Advisor
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair processes
  • Proven ability to manage and lead technical and frontline teams
  • Customer‑focused with the ability to manage expectations and resolve issues professionally
  • Valid driver’s licence (vehicle testing and movement required)
  • Strong communication skills with a good command of English and at least one local language
  • Computer literate with experience on dealer management or workshop systems
  • Medically fit for a hands‑on role where physical involvement may be required
  • Clear criminal record (verification checks apply)
  • South African citizen
  • Preference may be given to candidates based in or near the East Rand
