Job Title: Aluminum Boat Welder
Type: 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Hourly Rate: R127.20 per hour
Role Overview
We are currently seeking skilled Aluminum Boat Welders to join a production team on a 3-month contract based in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in MIG and TIG welding, specifically on aluminum boats. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to meet production deadlines within a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Welding & Fabrication: Perform MIG and TIG welding on aluminum plates and extrusions. Accurately measure, cut, and prepare materials based on technical drawings. Interpret and execute welding tasks aligned with design specifications and production schedules. Apply appropriate welding techniques and procedures for 5083 aluminum.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety protocols without exception. Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during all operations. Report any equipment faults or unsafe welds. Keep workspace including welding, bathroom, and eating areas clean and safe. Ensure emergency exits and routes remain unobstructed. Store all tools, equipment, and chemicals safely after use.
- Administrative Duties: File and manage drawings securely and appropriately. Accurately log time and attendance records, submitting them as required. Adhere to all company HR policies and procedures.
Candidate Profile
- Skills & Attributes: Technically proficient and detail-oriented; energetic, self-motivated, and safety-conscious; strong team player with a positive, solution-driven attitude; methodical and disciplined in approach; sober habits and professional conduct.
- Experience & Qualifications: At least 2 years of direct MIG and TIG welding experience on aluminium boats. Recognised qualification or certification in MIG/TIG Aluminium Welding. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written). Demonstrated understanding of safety practices in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with HSE and production standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move between workstations throughout the day. Comfortable with climbing ladders and working in confined spaces. Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy equipment or materials. Willingness to adapt to physically demanding tasks in a workshop setting.
