Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in accounting principles, financial analysis, and a passion for accuracy and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities
- Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure the availability of funds for lending operations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Generate regular financial reports for management to support decision-making. Assist with month end closure.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and lending industry standards. Assist in preparing documentation for external audits.
- Loan Portfolio Management: Monitor and track loans and their associated interest income, ensuring accuracy in loan accounting. Calculate and record provisions for loan losses and assess the adequacy of loan reserves.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Participate in the development of the annual budget and financial forecasts. Analyse budget variances and provide recommendations for cost control.
- Taxation: Prepare tax returns (VAT & PAYE). Stay informed about changes in tax laws and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to assess the company's financial performance and identify areas for improvement. Assist in financial modelling for new lending products and business initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements.
Qualification and Experience Requirements
- Accounting / Finance degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar roles.
- Ability to create logical and thorough financial reports.
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Xero.
- MS Excel Advanced (Non-negotiable)
