About the Role
Our client is a dynamic organisation modernising trade and logistics infrastructure across the African continent. Our client leads large-scale cross-border projects that connect nations, streamline commerce, and accelerate economic growth.
They are seeking a detail-driven Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment and is eager to grow within an ambitious, internationally focused finance team based in Century City, Cape Town.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records and perform reconciliations across multiple African entities.
- Process all accounting transactions, including payables, payroll, and intercompany entries.
- Support month-end and year-end closings, prepare management accounts, and assist with group consolidations.
- Assist with VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax submissions across various jurisdictions.
- Prepare audit documentation and liaise with auditors, consultants, and tax advisors.
- Maintain cash flow forecasts, perform bank reconciliations, and track liquidity.
- Contribute to annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Assist in updating and maintaining financial models.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs, statutory reporting, and internal control standards.
- Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Support international compliance activities across tax, audit, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience, ideally within a multi-entity or group environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero (or similar cloud-based accounting system).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modelling and data analysis.
- Solid understanding of IFRS for SMEs and South African tax legislation.
- Exposure to project finance or infrastructure projects is advantageous.
- Analytical mindset with strong accuracy, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork across jurisdictions.
- Eagerness to learn and apply cross-border accounting and taxation principles.
