Manager: Online Teaching & Learning
Overview
Emeris consolidates resources and expertise from IIE Varsity College, IIE MSA, IIE-Vega School, and IIE School of Hospitality & Service Management, providing a unified approach to teaching, learning, and student support.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Online lecturing on programmes that align with an IIE qualification.
- Deliver at least 3 modules per semester.
- Prepare, deliver, and assess teaching activities, including marking assessments and providing feedback to students.
- Develop ICE activities, manuals, exam scripts, and marking memos where required.
- Moderate assessment scripts within the respective subject fields across IIE sites of delivery.
- Act as developer, module leader, and moderator for academic material and assessments.
Qualifications & Modules Leadership
- Support T&L in the distance mode and IIE in discipline.
- Collaborate with Lecturers and Tutors to build industry knowledge and graduate placement.
- Conduct peer reviews in specialised programmes.
- Serve as Brand resource SME on modules and programmes of expertise.
- Support the adoption of teaching and learning strategies and approaches in the distance mode.
- Participate in lecturer orientation, briefing, and forum.
- Participate in student orientation and Programme Info sessions.
- Act as panel member in the selection and recruitment process of Lecturers/Tutors.
Mentoring of New Lecturers
- Conduct quality assurance evaluations of teaching and learning, including moderation support, peer review, and faculty initiatives.
- Track online lecturers/tutors and implement initiatives.
- Stay current on national and international best practice for online T&L, including support resources and engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning Specialist, EdTech, and instructional designers to develop synchronous and asynchronous support resources.
- Promote effective real‑time delivery practices suitable for online learning environments.
- Work with individual lecturers to ensure resources match discipline/module requirements.
- Track assessment points using relevant platforms and implement interventions for at‑risk modules.
Student Development & Support
- Lead academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.
- Track individual student academic performance and enrolment success rates.
- Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning Specialist to reduce dropout rates and increase completion rates.
- Assist with experiential learning of students in their programme.
- Conduct student support interventions where required.
- Perform appropriate academic administration related to student development and support.
- Implement academic guidance initiatives and programmes, and organise workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
- Provide asynchronous/synchronous support for relevant faculty.
Research and Scholarship
All designated academic employees are required to promote a culture of scholarship and contribute toward Emeris achieving its annual research output targets. Individual research output units will be set in consultation with your line manager on an annual basis.

Minimum Education Requirements
Minimum of a Master Degree (NQF Level 9) in a related field.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of contact and/or online facilitation within a tertiary academic institution, results analysis and academic development.
