A medical device manufacturing company in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Manufacturing Supervisor to lead a team of operators. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of supervisory experience in production and manufacturing. Responsibilities include ensuring smooth production operations, managing staff performance, and maintaining quality standards. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree and strong communication and leadership skills. The role requires the ability to work in rotating 8-hour shifts.
Lead a group of manufacturing operators and to ensure that production lines run without any problems, minimum downtime, products are manufactured to a required quality standard and adheres to customer/safety/industry-related regulations.
Supervise and motivate a team of manufacturing operators to ensure that the production processes aligned with specified key performance indicators May be responsible for processes across organizational lines. Be responsible for Safety/Cost/Quality/Productivity/Through put time/WIP inventory/Output/Shipment In-Direct Material and Supplies.
Ensure the circulation of information, policies and procedures to subordinates.
Interface with engineering and others supporting function groups to resolve production issues. Ability to work with Cross-functional management of QA, SCM, Engineering, Finance and HR.
Provides manufacturing information to management by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data.
Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
Maintain efficiency and a disciplined workforce through monitoring absenteeism and tardiness and adherence to company's rules and regulations to attain high standard of workmanship. Manage employees’ disciplinary issues by giving warning and counselling. Reviews employee's performance and recommends disciplinary action as necessary.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing to optimizing resources and minimizing costs. And to foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration, working with other departments to optimize processes and resolve issues.
Maintaining safety regulation, GMP / Housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team members.
Resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.
Performs related functions and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
Minimum 5 years related working experience in production & manufacturing supervisory roles.
Bachelor Degree in Business Management / Operations Management / Engineering, or equivalent study
Good communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills.
Strong problem-solving skills
Develop strong working relationships and trust in the team.
Results and deadline-driven.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Required skill(s): supervisory, people management, communication, capacity planning, problem solving, operations management.
Must be able to work rotating 8 hours shifts.
