Job Summary

The Mechanical Technician performs hands‑on mechanical troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, and preventive maintenance at client sites, including water and wastewater treatment plants. The role supports service assignments and ensures all mechanical work complies with Malaysian regulations and company safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Troubleshooting & Repair
  • Diagnose and repair faults in pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, blowers, compressors, and rotating equipment.
  • Perform alignment, coupling, bearing replacement, and basic vibration checks.
  • Conduct mechanical inspections to identify wear, leaks, misalignment, or abnormal noise.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals accurately.
2. Mechanical Installation & Maintenance
  • Perform installation, assembly, modification, and testing of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance works according to maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment under supervision.
  • Perform basic lubrication, flushing, and cleaning of mechanical systems (piping, tanks, pumps, skids).
3. Safety & Compliance
  • Follow DOSH guidelines, Factory & Machinery Act, and all site safety requirements.
  • Adhere to LOTO procedures, PPE rules, and confined space safety practices.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and hazard identification activities.
4. Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare service reports, maintenance checklists, and troubleshooting logs.
  • Provide timely updates to supervisors on job status, delays, and technical issues.
  • Record as‑built updates for mechanical modifications and replacements.
5. Tools, Materials & Worksite Preparation
  • Ensure proper use, care, and storage of mechanical tools and lifting equipment.
  • Confirm availability of spare parts, materials, and tools before work begins.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.
Qualifications
  • Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Maintenance / Mechatronics.
  • Steam Engineer, Fitter, or related technical certification is an added advantage.
Experience
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Experience with pumps, blowers, gearboxes, piping systems, and rotating equipment preferred.
  • Experience in water or wastewater treatment plants is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge of industrial mechanical safety standards and safe lifting practices.
  • Able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and outdoor environments.
  • Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and basic English.
Working Conditions
  • May need to work after hours, weekends, or on standby for urgent call
