Wood is recruiting for a Materials / Logistics Manager to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects. The role will operate as part of the Onsite Owner’s Representative team, ensuring efficient material management, logistics coordination, and compliance with Owner standards throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role
The Materials / Logistics Manager will act as the Owner’s Representative, responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring all material control and logistics activities to ensure timely and safe delivery, proper storage, and accurate inventory control. This role supports construction needs, mitigates supply chain risks, and ensures that all materials meet quality and compliance requirements for mission‑critical installations.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain material delivery schedules aligned with construction milestones and commissioning requirements.
- Coordinate with Owner, General Contractor (GC), vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Monitor order progress status and logistics arrangement for Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE) - long‑lead items and critical equipment.
- Monitor GC / Subcontractor performance, facilities, and resources with regards to materials management.
- Review GC Management / Logistic / Inventory / Reporting Procedures to meet project requirements.
Logistics Management
- Plan and manage site logistics strategy, including laydown areas, storage warehouses, temporary facilities, access routes, and material handling processes.
- Ensure proper delivery planning to support installation taking into account site readiness and ensure safe operations.
- Coordinate heavy‑lift, oversized cargo, and high‑value equipment logistics in alignment with lifting plans and site constraints.
- Implement efficient material flow strategies.
Inventory Control & Documentation
- Review and oversee GC execution related to: Material receipt and inspection, Storage, preservation, and protection, Allocation and issuance to work fronts, Returns, surplus materials, and disposal, Damage reporting and corrective actions.
- Coordinate equipment and material deliveries to meet project schedules, liaising with Owner and OFE vendors for timely releases and readiness.
- Maintain accurate material and inventory records, ensuring material traceability.
- Support and maintain documentation for material inspections, certifications, preservation records, and final handover.
Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Identify and mitigate risks related to material shortages, delivery delays, or storage constraints.
- Ensure compliance with Owner standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Support audits and reporting related to material and logistics activities.
- Serve as the primary liaison for material and logistics coordination between Owner, GC, and suppliers.
- Provide regular updates and reports on material status, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Participate in site meetings and contribute to issue resolution.
Stakeholder Communication

Expected:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in material and logistics management for large-scale construction projects.
- Experience with materials management and logistics administration for mission‑critical facilities, data centre or Infrastructure construction projects is highly desirable.
- Experience in handling logistics and material control of electrical and major equipment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, inventory control, material management, and site logistics planning.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
