Southern Steel Berhad is seeking a driven and experienced Legal Manager to join our team in Seberang Perai Penang. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal services and strategic counsel to support the company's corporate and commercial objectives.
Provide advice on a broad range of legal matters, including contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, commercial agreements, and other key legal documents to ensure alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.
Monitor legal developments and ensure the company adheres to applicable laws and regulations, updating policies as needed to stay compliant.
Identify and manage potential legal risks in operations, recommending strategies to minimize exposure and protect the business.
Oversee and manage litigation matters, working closely with external counsel to achieve effective outcomes and keep stakeholders informed.
Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to offer practical, business‑centric legal solutions and ensure clear communication.
Facilitate training sessions to educate employees on legal topics, raise awareness of compliance standards, and improve legal understanding across the organization.
Support the cultivation and practice of 5S workplace standards to promote continuous improvement in productivity, quality, efficiency, and overall working conditions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB).
Minimum 7 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in corporate and commercial law.
In‑depth knowledge of contract management, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and manage legal risks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver clear legal advice to stakeholders at all levels.
Experience collaborating with stakeholders and providing commercially‑focused legal solutions.
Proficiency in English is essential. Mandarin language skills are an added advantage to facilitate communication with regional stakeholders and clients.
