This role is responsible for planning and executing effective communication and media strategies to strengthen MRC’s brand image, reputation, and corporate initiatives in line with the organization’s strategic direction.

Position Overview

The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) invites experienced, creative, and strategic professionals to apply for the position of Assistant Manager, Communications. This role is responsible for planning and executing effective communication and media strategies to strengthen MRC’s brand image, reputation, and corporate initiatives in line with the organization’s strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate internal and external communications, including media releases, advertising, internal messaging, public affairs, interviews, digital marketing, and educational programmes.
  • Provide strategic communication advice and support to Heads of Department (HOD) and the Head of Division.
  • Proactively manage media relations and positively shape the MRC brand image.
  • Coordinate and support media campaigns in collaboration with senior management.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, industry players, media, and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare communication materials such as talking points, fact sheets, and other internal and external content.
  • Manage challenging situations, including crisis communications that may impact the organization’s reputation.
  • Lead, guide, and develop a communications team responsible for internal and external communications.
Qualifications & Requirements Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Corporate Communication, or a related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in corporate or strategic communications, including managerial experience within a large organization or equivalent.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including inter‑agency partners, media, the public, and other related parties.
  • Highly resourceful with extensive experience in strategic and corporate communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills within a highly matrixed organizational environment.
Language Proficiency
