Senior Software Engineer, Search & Listings Team (Contractor through Deel)

The Listing Pipeline teams own the services that ingest and normalize listing data from over 200 external sources, supplying the core data for the entire Compass platform.

As a Senior Software Engineer on a Listing Pipeline Team, you will work on projects that deliver the data for all new product capabilities to Compass agents and consumers.

Responsibilities

• You will architect, implement, improve and scale the back‑end services, collaborating across Product and multiple teams.
• Influence key technology decisions for scalable performance and stability with your experience in microservice architecture.
• Mentor a talented team of engineers while driving high‑complexity projects.
• Drive continuous improvement and optimization of processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.
• Operate in a scalable engineering culture that leverages modern decoupled systems, automated CI/CD/testing/monitoring to drive efficiencies.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing comprehensive, well‑tested, and high‑performance software applications in Java or Python.
• ~3+ years experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS services (EKS, S3, Redis, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Lambda, MSK).
• Expertise designing and extending Kafka and event‑driven data ingestion and normalization services that perform at scale.
• Understanding and adherence to industry‑standard best practices in software development and architecture.
