A digital solutions provider is seeking a full-time experienced WordPress developer to manage websites, generate themes, and provide client support. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript, plus experience with WordPress, while leading a junior team. This freelance position allows for flexible hours, starting salary between $20,000 and $30,000 per month based on experience. English fluency is required.

Looking for a full time experienced WordPress developer.

You will be tasked with creating custom sites (design ability is a plus, but not at all required - building from wireframe is fine), creating and customising themes / child themes, and leading the development of our own plugins for managing client sites.

You will also be responsible for coding our own sites - building them out from wireframes, advanced performance optimisation of our sites and client sites, providing live chat client support in English and maintaining and making requested changes as necessary to client sites.

Finally, you will be taking a lead position among a mostly more junior team, providing support and delegating work as appropriate.

You will be the destination for more complex support issues that the more junior developers cannot handle.

Ideally you will be able to start sometime between the 14th and 21st of November with full time hours, with an appropriate raise after the first three months.

Hours expected for the first three months will be 40 per week working hours, and 8 hours per week on-call for client support (these are flexible to arrange as you like within the schedule - which will be discussed, and can be daytime or night time hours), after this the hours will diminish to only 40 working hours per week.

This position will be home office, and freelance.

Starting pay between 20,000 and 30,000 depending on experience - to be discussed.

Responsibilities

• Stay abreast of current marketing automation trends, best practices, and strategies
• Maintaining and managing the front-end and back-end sides of the company and client websites
• Generating WordPress themes and plugins.
• Conducting website performance tests and optimisation.
• Troubleshooting content and display issues.
• Consistently monitoring the performance of the live website.
• Providing live chat client support
• Overseeing more junior developers.

Requirements

• HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, MySQL or MariaDB, jQuery
• Fluent in English
• Can work with Git
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to create appropriately responsive sites is a must
• Basic proficiency with Gutenberg and Elementor
• Basic understanding of Digital Marketing (SEO, Google Analytics, etc)
• Strong knowledge of the WordPress platform
• Proven work experience as a WordPress developer
• Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug
• Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
• Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
• Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
• Basic knowledge of DNS
