Purpose of the job
In the context of Tren Maya project, ALSTOM is offering high level of Maintenance Service of the Rolling Stock, Track systems (Signaling & Communication) and Maintenance facilities.
JR SIG&COM System Engineer
The JR SIG&COM System Engineer is contributing to the technical activities within this Services scope, ensuring:
- Continuous technical support to the Operator and the Maintenance teams ;
- Permanent monitoring of systems performances for reaching targets and continuously improve them, in particular:
- Safety
- Availability (support to Fleet management team)
- Reliability (Service failures vs contractual target, but also Intrinsic performance of systems and components)
- Maintenance cost (labor hours and material consumption vs LCC budget forecast)
- Configuration management of all maintained assets (trainsets, systems), and also related spare parts and technical documentation, including management of engineering change process and preparation of technical inputs to set up the MMS (Maintenance Management System)
- Interface with Alstom Design Authority teams and suppliers (technical subjects)
- Support to PI (Product Introduction) organization to successfully meet the requirements for the end of warranty
- Occasionally involved in the interface with customer about good realization of the maintenance program, discussions about technical issues and trainsets/systems performances.
- By delegation from the Sr Sig/Com/Facilities Maintenance Engineer, the JR SIG&COM System Engineer can be the technical authority on operations sites, able to assess capability of the material to ensure commercial service.
- If already on-board during Design phase, participate in the Design Reviews, making sure it is consistent with Services project targets : LCC, availability, reliability. Bring the necessary inputs about operational processes and maintenance infrastructure.
- During warranty phase, support the Production Introduction team in Reliability Growth. Perform pre-analysis of corrective data and investigations, orienting the activity of back office engineering team for quick improvements in close collaboration with Troubleshooters and ATV Technicians.
- When Design teams are demobilized, handle 95% of technical subjects, referring to Design Authority for changes or substituting Design Authority if formally transferred. Also contribute to all Engineering activities of the related scope of work, including the ones performed by other Alstom sites or suppliers. Manage the technical REX (Return-of-Experience) of the project.
- Monitoring & treatment of obsolescence are part of Services engineering scope of work.

Accountabilities & Authorities
Key accountabilities
- Support the Configuration and Design Change Management of the Project for Services scope (whole scope if/when transferred by the Design team)
- Manages the technical performances of the systems and provide REX to relevant Services Product Line.
- Optimizes the scope and related tasks of the Maintenance plan.
- Supports cost reduction actions, in collaboration with Procurement and Industrial.
- Detects, defines and implements the modifications of the maintained products to improve the reliability and serviceability, in order to reduce project costs and improve the performances of the systems.
- Ensures the update of the technical documentation of the projects.
- Supports the Product Safety management system ensuring safety risks are mitigated in a timely manner.
- Manages Obsolescence Plan.
- Captures and ensures ownership of technical regulations and standards to be applied.
- Supports Certification processes for engineering changes (in relation with the Design Authority).
- Supports Indus team in developing the work instructions and processes from the maintenance plan and maintenance manuals.
- Supports Indus team in developing standardized tools/processes improving efficiency in maintenance activities.
- Analyses the technical performances of the systems and efficiency of maintenance plan and processes, promoting action plans to improve them.
- Manages the technical documentation within the system and any required interface with the MMS.
- Assures efficient parts codification in line with Product Line rules (after transfer from ISR team): materials identification, codification process, interfaces with Alstom systems, quality and normative requirements.
- Contributes to project monthly maintenance report (contractual reliability and availability targets)
- Sets-up and follows standardized and continuous fleet/systems reliability improvement plans, proactively surveying fleet KPI and promoting improving actions.
- Develops LCC model by sub-system and related reporting, then develops and maintain visual management of LCC (after transfer from ISR team)
- Provides LCC status, including risks/savings and associated actions plan, for CPR submissions
- Searches for improvement actions in maintenance operations, performing engineering interface activities with Operations Engineers (depot support).
- Promotes the use of latest maintenance technics and R&D developments (CBM, RCM, Lean).
- Analyses failure criticality studies and uses RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) and other available methodologies to define and optimize the maintenance requirements, tasks and intervals.

Main Required Competences
Educational Requirements
University degree in Railway Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering or Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
Experience
Mandatory
- 1-2 years of experience in the design, testing, commissioning and/or maintenance of Signaling & Communication (on-board, trackside)
- Working knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
- Basic knowledge of other rolling stock systems
- Knowledge of maintenance of depot equipment
- Proficient in the use of SAP, BI/BO (ideally Alstom RailSYS or GSI)
- Problem solving capacity (technical and costs evaluation of a solution)
- Capacity of managing Technical risks
- Capacity to work under the pressure of daily operations
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work autonomously
- Desire to learn
- Effective, professional interpersonal skills
- Strong team player, leadership
