Job Purpose
Ensure the proper execution, control, and compliance of import and export operations under the maquiladora (IMMEX) regime, in full alignment with customs, tax, and corporate regulations. Optimize logistics and customs processes to guarantee operational continuity while minimizing costs and risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee temporary and definitive import operations, ensuring full compliance with Mexican customs laws and the IMMEX Decree.
- Manage relationships with customs brokers, logistics providers, carriers, and customs authorities.
- Ensure the accuracy of customs documentation (pedimentos, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.).
- Monitor shipment status and resolve issues related to customs, transportation, or documentation.
- Develop and implement cost and lead-time optimization strategies within logistics and customs processes.
- Supervise the correct application of special customs regimes and incentive programs such as IMMEX, PROSEC, and Rule 8th.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Planning, and Finance to ensure continuous material flow.
- Implement and maintain internal controls and audits related to foreign trade operations.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations (T-MEC/USMCA, OEA, etc.).
- Develop and track KPIs and performance indicators for import/export operations.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of foreign trade specialists.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, International Relations, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in import/export management within the maquiladora or manufacturing industry.
Technical Knowledge
- Mexican customs legislation and IMMEX Decree.
- Annex 24 and Annex 31 control systems.
- Free trade agreements (T-MEC/USMCA, FTAs, Rules of Origin).
- SAP or ERP systems related to logistics and foreign trade.
- Tariff classification and regulatory compliance (NOMs, COFEPRIS, SEMARNAT, etc.).
- Language: Advanced English (written and spoken).
