A digital marketing agency is looking for a detail-oriented Fractional Controller to manage financial operations. You will oversee accounting processes, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. A minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience is required, along with proficiency in QuickBooks. This is a full-time, remote position offering competitive salary, working Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST. Join a collaborative team focused on driving measurable results.

What You’ll Do

General Financial Recordkeeping & Accounting

  • Accurately enter all income and expenses into QuickBooks.
  • Assign appropriate expense categories (e.g., advertising costs, contractor payments, subscriptions).
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure records match.
  • Create and send monthly invoices for 25 clients, factoring in retainer fees and a variable monthly fee based on a percentage of each client’s ad spend.
  • Track payments, monitor paid & outstanding invoices, and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Accurately track and apply client retainers.
  • Leverage strong collections experience to consistently follow up on late payments, implement escalation processes for overdue accounts, and take debt recovery actions when necessary while maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Process vendor bills, pay contractors and freelancers, and manage recurring subscription payments.
  • Manage payroll: process employee salaries, handle required deductions for taxes/benefits, and issue contractor payments.
  • Prepare year-end tax forms such as W‑2s.

Financial Reporting & Client Profitability

  • Generate monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash‑flow statements.
  • Track revenue and allocate costs for each client (e.g., ad spend, contractor hours, software expenses).
  • Assess profitability per client to highlight high‑value accounts and identify accounts with low margins.
  • Monitor and report on month‑over‑month changes in client revenue, profitability, and expenses to identify growth areas or address inefficiencies.

Tax Preparation Assistance

  • Work directly with the Tax Team to provide documentation, reports, and records for tax filings.
  • Prepare and provide receipts, invoices, and other financial documents as requested by the tax team.

Software & Systems Management

  • Maintain QuickBooks and ensure accuracy of all records.
  • Ensure seamless integration with CRM and project‑management tools.
  • Leverage automation tools (e.g., Zapier) to streamline repetitive tasks.

Compliance & Audits

  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Prepare detailed records and reports for potential audits.

Strategic Support

  • Monitor and advise on cash‑flow to ensure liquidity.
  • Identify opportunities to increase profitability or reduce costs through margin analysis.
  • Highlight financial opportunities or bottlenecks to support the agency’s growth.
What You Need
  • 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably with service‑based businesses.
  • Experience creating invoices with complex fee structures (retainer plus percentage‑based ad spend).
  • Proven success in managing accounts receivable, including strong collections and debt recovery.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights, especially around client profitability and revenue growth.
  • Familiarity with CRM and project‑management software integration is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and clients.

Competitive Salary

This is a full‑time, long‑term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with TLNT. Work from home. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST.
