About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join our client, a Japanese consumer goods industry. In this full‑time position, you will be responsible for driving new business development and expanding our client base in the South Jakarta area.

What you'll be doing
  • Manage Local Modern Trade Sales Team to contribute to company objectives (sales, profitability) by developing and implementing sales strategy in the Modern Trade Channel.
  • Develop and implement strategy and plan for the whole local modern trade sales in accordance with overall channel strategy, delivering sales targets for each customer.
  • Manage and control customer profitability by ensuring effective and efficient use of expense, especially promotion expense (Promotion expense management).
  • Prepare accurate sales forecast.
  • Drive market development and enhance Share of Shelf in accounts.
  • Build strong and committed customer relationships for each account, key account distributor and local distributors.
  • Book agreed orders and follow through until delivery.
  • Account receivable management: upon receipt of payment, validate the breakdown, determine any discrepancies, and collaborate with buyer/finance departments for immediate resolution.
  • Sales return management.
  • Oversee team management and coordinate with area sales team on MT KA plan execution.
  • Terms of trade negotiation, business development agreement and coordination with Sales Director.
  • Responsible for overall sales generation of assigned accounts, including:
    • Sales report and monthly sales achievement with action plans.
    • Sales Outlook 1st (end of month), 2nd (15th) and 3rd (25th).
    • Weekly business itinerary report, sales negotiation report and promotion evaluation report.
    • Three‑month sales forecast, returns analysis and inventory reports for each account DC.
    • Coordinate early resolution of account‑specific issues with the Sales Director.
    • Ensure timely implementation of targeted trade programs.
  • Supervise subordinate activities: accomplish MT sales team results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising results, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor degree in any major; MBA preferred.
  • Proven track record of 5‑8 years experience in the Modern Trade Channel, food category (Mandatory).
  • Experience managing national retail customers (Head Office level preferred).
  • Work experience in an FMCG company is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients.
  • Good business networking.
  • Good team player.
  • Business communication in English.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and motivating a sales team to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Thorough understanding of Modern Trade Channel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to present solutions to senior stakeholders.
