Safety Engineer Heavy Equipment (Karawang Based)

Overview

  • Risk assessment and mitigation: Analyse worksites, equipment, and procedures to identify potential hazards. Implement control measures, such as engineering controls, administrative controls, and proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Policy development: Create and update safety policies and procedures specific to heavy equipment operation, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and fire prevention plans.
  • Compliance management: Stay up to date on all local, state, and federal safety regulations, such as those from OSHA or MSHA, and ensure the company is fully compliant.
  • Incident investigation: Lead or assist in investigating accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns. Determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Training and education: Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees, operators, and subcontractors on the safe operation of heavy equipment and emergency procedures.
  • Audits and inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and on-site inspections of facilities, machinery, and work environments. Document findings and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operations, engineering, and management teams to integrate safety measures into all aspects of equipment design and use.
  • Reporting and analysis: Maintain detailed records of safety metrics, incident reports, and audits. Analyse trends to continuously improve the company's safety performance.

Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Occupational Health and Safety is typically required. Some positions may prefer or require a master's degree.
  • Experience: Most employers require minimum 5 years of experience in a safety or risk management role, preferably in a high-risk industry like construction, mining, or manufacturing.
