About the role

As a QC Technical Flavors Supervisor, you will be responsible for day-to-day activities of sensory and analytical lab operations, developing, designing and maintaining the execution of Quality Control system in the business process from raw material to finished goods distribution.

  • Reporting to: Quality Manager
Key responsibilities
  • Directly in charge of day-to-day activities of quality checking from incoming Raw Material to Finished Goods inspection and product release to customer.
  • Design, prepare and validate the quality control system in site from SOP, activity plan, work instruction, testing method, lab layout and validation.
  • Act as the Sensory Champion as the main decision maker for sensory related issues and give training for future sensory panelists.
  • Perform sensory protocol and inspection for Raw Materials and Finished Goods which will evaluate but not limited to: Appearance, Color, Odor and Flavor.
  • Perform physical and analytical testing for Raw Materials and Finished Goods from Foreign Matter, Moisture, Specific Gravity, Refractive Index, Water Activity, Particle Size, Flash Point, Water Content, Salt Content, Viscosity, Bulk Density.
  • Provide technical expertise of flavor characteristic by utilizing lab-trial and advanced instruments such as FTIR and GCMS.
  • Directly in charge for Quality Management System (QM) in SAP to develop and maintain Inspection Testing, COA profile, Product Classification and Material Management.
  • Develop Shelf-Life Extension procedure for Raw Materials and Finished Goods from material characteristics, sampling and testing of the material and maintain the storage conditions in the system.
  • Provide technical expertise and participate in troubleshooting of non-conformance issues related to Quality and Food Safety.
  • Actively participate in new product introduction development from trial phase to production run, ensuring the Quality and Food Safety parameters are following Kerry and customers standards.
  • Maintain Halal Compliance System for raw materials distributed to Kerry Karawang.
  • Participate in food safety and EHS management audit from FSSC 22000, Rainforest Alliance, ISO 9001 & 17025. Participate in customer audit as required.
  • Participate and develop Good Laboratory Practice in the lab from instrument calibration, lab housekeeping, training, etc.
  • Independently pursue an assigned series of processes, procedures, or techniques in accordance with Kerry standard, FSSC 22000 and customer requirements.
  • Implement all procedures related Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Food Safety Quality (FSQ) policy & procedures in all operational activities, hence all operational process can run safely and according to food safety rules.
Qualifications and skills
  • University graduate from Chemistry or Food Technology
  • More than 5 years of experience in Food and Flavor Industries
  • Able to operate analytical instruments such as Densitometer, Refractometer, Auto titrator, Balance, Flash Point Analyzer, Gas Chromatography, Colorimeter, Spectrophotometer, Particle Size Analyzer, FTIR.
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with Salesforce are an advantage.
  • Has essential flavor chemical knowledge and other essential ingredients material for flavors and seasoning.
  • Proficient in sensory skill, able to detect the characteristics of flavor with the raw materials. Not color-blind.
  • Expert in analytical instruments especially GCMS and able to interpret the chromatogram.
  • Ability to work methodically and independently with limited supervision.
  • Agile and fast learner to support fast-paced business process.
  • Exposure to flavor industry is an advantage.
