Job description

This role is responsible for conducting and overseeing daily hydrogeology activities to support Awak Mas Open Cut Mine operations. The role focuses on the interaction between water and rock at the mine site, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations. Key responsibilities include designing and supervising dewatering systems, analyzing groundwater conditions, and modeling water flow to support mine production and slope stability.

Some of your duties will include:
  • Dewatering & Slope Depressurisation: Design and manage dewatering systems to maintain groundwater levels that ensure mine stability and operational access.
  • Groundwater Monitoring & Analysis: Collect and analyse groundwater data to assess flow, quality, and interaction with mine operations, ensuring reliable and timely data.
  • Hydrogeological Investigations: Conduct field investigations including drilling, well installation, and aquifer testing to support groundwater assessment.
  • Water Management & Supply: Ensure adequate water supply for operations and manage water use and discharge in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment: Evaluate potential impacts of mining activities on groundwater and surface water prior to execution.
  • Modelling & Simulation: Perform groundwater modelling to predict impacts and optimise water management strategies.
What skills and experience do you need?
  • Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Hydrogeology Engineer.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using hydrogeology and modelling software such as Surpac/Leapfrog, WMS, HEC-RAS, Aquaveo Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in hydrogeological assessments and monitoring.
  • Experience in catchment analysis and sediment pond design.
  • Experience managing teams, including geotechnical and hydrogeology crews, consultants, and contractors.
  • Hands‑on experience in hydrogeological drilling and testing.
  • Ability to develop and present dashboard‑based reports.
