Job summary

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute merchandising strategies, including assortment planning and category development.
  • Define pricing, margin, promotion, and display strategies to achieve sales and profitability targets.
  • Design and implement planograms to optimize sales potential and minimize shrinkage.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage relationships with local and international suppliers (including direct procurement from China).
  • Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and margins.
  • Ensure product quality standards, particularly in fashion, textiles, footwear, and household categories.
  • Oversee inventory planning to prevent overstock, aging stock, and shrinkage risk.
  • Monitor demand forecasting and collaborate with supply chain to ensure product availability.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the merchandising team to drive performance and innovation.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Provide regular performance reports, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 8–12 years of experience in merchandising, category management, or buying (retail, e-commerce, department store, fashion, household, or grocery sectors).
  • Proven experience in import procurement and supplier management (China market experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of merchandising strategies: assortment, pricing, margin, promotion, and display management.
  • Deep understanding of product quality evaluation, especially in fashion, textiles, footwear, and household goods.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision-making and P&L management experience.
  • Fluent in English is must (Chinese language proficiency is highly advantageous).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive, creative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
