Job Description: Head of Finance Division
The Head of Finance Department is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company. This individual will lead and manage the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, robust financial controls, effective tax planning and compliance, and insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision‑making. The Head of Finance will act as a key business partner, providing financial guidance and recommendations to senior management.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a high‑performance culture.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls and financial policies and procedures.
- Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the finance department, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and systems.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of financial objectives with overall business goals.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
- Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning and decision‑making.
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide insights to senior management.
- Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders, including management, investors, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage the annual budget process and monitor performance against budget.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for deviations from budget.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Tax Management:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of all tax returns (income tax, VAT, etc.).
- Manage tax audits and liaise with tax authorities.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations and advise management on potential impacts.
- Manage transfer pricing documentation and compliance.
- Plan strategic tax planning to improve the company’s cash flow.
Accounting & Treasury:
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Manage cash flow, including forecasting and monitoring.
- Maintain relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
- Manage the company’s banking and investment activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll.
- Manage and control the company’s fixed asset register.
- Identify and assess financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Manage insurance programs and claims.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree or CPA certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least [Number] years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
