Job summary

A major pulp and paper company in Malang seeks a Government Relations/External Affairs Expert to manage relationships with government officials and stakeholders. Responsibilities include monitoring policy priorities, representing the organization at meetings, and developing communication strategies aligned with corporate goals. Government Relations/External Affairs Expert

Monitor movement on top policy priorities, state and local levels.

Represent Society at coalition meetings, partner meetings and briefings.

Develop and manage relationships with key state and local legislators and agency staff.

Act as spokesperson and develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and other media members.

Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and relevant industry associations.

Act as liaison between the organization and governmental bodies, focusing on lobbying efforts to influence policy decisions.

Develop and implement communication strategies that inform and engage the public about the mission, vision, and values of a public organization.

Align corporate messaging with public interests and regulatory guidelines, enhancing the company's public image while ensuring stakeholders are informed about safety and corporate social responsibility efforts.

Monitor public opinion and media coverage, advising senior management on potential impacts of decisions.

Ensure there are no security disturbances that result in the company's operations being halted.

Risk mapping, risk management, conflict resolution, and stakeholder register.

Job Requirements

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Public Administration, Political Science or relevant studies.

Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in communication, media relations, or public relations.

Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment, including with remote team members.

Strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.

Strategic thinking, resilience, and thriving in chaos.

Strong skills in writing, speaking, research, analysis, creativity, problem‑solving, and teamwork.

English speaker, Mandarin is a plus and preferred.

Based in Malang, East Java.
