About Our Client

Our client is a leading integrated nickel mining company committed to sustainable practices and operational excellence. As part of their continued investment in environmentally responsible mining, they are developing a Dry Stack Tailings Facility (DSTF) at their operation site in Central Sulawesi. The company is looking to hire an experienced DSTF Manager to oversee the facility from construction through operational phases.

Job Description

As the DSTF Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design, implementation, operation, and ongoing integrity of the dry stack tailings facility. Reporting directly to the Site Operations Director and working closely with HSE, Processing, and Engineering teams, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development, commissioning, and daily operations of the Dry Stack Tailings Facility.
  • Manage tailings deposition planning, material balance, filtration systems, and dry stacking logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, tailings governance frameworks, and site‑specific SOPs.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineering consultants, and geotechnical teams during DSTF construction and audits.
  • Implement monitoring programs for geotechnical stability, water balance, and dust control.
  • Support progressive rehabilitation and closure planning initiatives.
  • Lead risk assessments, emergency response plans, and training for the DSTF team.
The Successful Applicant

To succeed in this role, you must have a solid technical background in tailings management and proven experience in the nickel mining industry. Key requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mining operations with at least 5 years in tailings management.
  • Proven track record in managing or commissioning dry stack tailings facilities, ideally in laterite/nickel operations.
  • Strong knowledge of international tailings standards (e.g., ICMM, GISTM, ANCOLD).
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
  • Willing to be based on‑site in Central Sulawesi on a FIFO roster.
