Job Overview

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and analytical Cost Controller with strong integrity to ensure all operational expenditures are aligned with the approved budget and company policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining cost efficiency and supporting management decision‑making through accurate financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and approve operational expense requests within the assigned authority limit.
  • Provide system approval prior to payment processing by the Finance team.
  • Verify the completeness and validity of supporting documents (invoices, POs, contracts, etc.).
  • Ensure all expenses comply with company SOPs, internal policies, and approved budgets.
  • Monitor operational cost realization (budget vs. actual) and identify variances.
  • Reject or request clarification for expenses that are inconsistent with policies or deemed unreasonable.
  • Prevent unnecessary spending through effective cost analysis and internal controls.
  • Prepare weekly reports summarizing operational expenses for management review.
  • Provide recommendations for cost efficiency and improvement of cost control processes.
  • Coordinate with related departments to ensure optimal budget utilization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in Cost Control, Finance, Accounting, or Budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting processes, cost analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Experienced in conducting budget vs. actual analysis.
  • Able to read and understand basic financial statements (Profit & Loss, Cash Flow).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas).
  • Detail‑oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Firm, communicative, and possessing high integrity.
  • Experience in the shipping/maritime industry is an advantage.
