Job description

Assembly is an integrated agency providing purpose-built communications to Microsoft – bringing strategy, creative, research, social and digital, and influencer marketing together to drive tangible business results and advance Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more.

Assembly was formed by converging best-in-class teams at Edelman to lead integrated communications on behalf of Microsoft. Assembly UK is a tightly integrated storytelling machine of over 40 full time employees working across the entire Microsoft business spanning Corporate, Commercial and Consumer (Microsoft, Xbox, Surface, LinkedIn) Communications as well as Social and B2B Marketing. Passionate about developing creative ideas to help the world’s biggest Brands connect with their audiences, our teams work collaboratively across the entire Edelman network to transform Brands’ reputations. This work has scored us several recent Cannes Lions award wins.

This is a rare and exciting role working for one of the most innovative and trusted brands in the world, helping to shape and maintain their global leadership on AI.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director to work across the Commercial business (B2B), which spans AI, cloud services, productivity software, business apps and devices, including brands such as Copilot, Teams, Azure, Microsoft 365 and Surface. We are looking for someone passionate about the technology sector who is seeking a role where they can make a difference and create a lasting legacy in one of the world’s largest communications firms. Your experience working in large agencies, managing big-name tech accounts will be invaluable in navigating this role and the complex work streams we operate. As well as bringing a wealth of skills and experience to the team, we are looking for someone who is still curious and open to learning.

With this opportunity you also get the chance to be involved with Edelman initiatives beyond your day-to-day client responsibilities, such as our AI transformation, marketing, culture and IP development, dependent on the candidate’s specific area of interest and expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a high-performance team - keeping to tight deadlines, ensuring attention to detail throughout campaign delivery and maintaining motivation
  • Providing strategic media relations/digital skills and counsel at a UK level
  • Develop creative plans promoting technology solutions to business audiences via PR and Digital routes
  • Running integrated comms campaigns across the UK, ensuring delivery against campaign objectives and metrics; driving consistent quality of work
  • Work with other marketing disciplines to develop 360 integrated campaigns
  • Create and manage budgets
  • Build trust with clients through informed council and effective recommendations
  • Nurture and grow junior team members, through mentoring and upskilling
Skills and Experience
  • Deep understanding of technology with dedicated B2B experience (consumer expertise also welcome)
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written – able to develop high quality strategy, written documents and proposals and manage junior and senior team members
  • Experience in developing plans which take complex technology and translate it into meaningful benefits for business and society
  • Strong creative thinking
  • Supreme UK media relations, and understanding and experience of engaging non-traditional influencers a benefit
  • Proof of how your campaign ideas have been translated into media results
  • Demonstrated account/team leadership
  • Desire to work as part of a large, integrated team in a busy, fast-paced and highly motivating working environment
  • The ability and experience to provide senior clients with clear, confident, and well-informed strategic counsel. Excellent negotiation skills and ability to manage expectations against budgets/results

We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
