A local healthcare practice in Yarm is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join their supportive team. The ideal candidate will have experience in taking blood pressures, performing ECGs, and assisting with chronic disease management. Responsibilities include undertaking health checks and supporting the practice nurse with clinical tasks. Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards it is required. Training can be provided for specific tasks.
Yarm Medical Practice is looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our supportive practice team working in a busy practice.
Experience of taking blood pressures, patient measurements, ECGsurinalysis and phlebotomy essential.Experience of fronting chronic disease clinics, primary prevention clinics,spirometry, suture removal and simple dressings is essential. Experience in vaccinations and injectionsessential, warfarin monitoring preferred however training can be provided.
We are a practice of 5 GP partners, 2 Salaried GP's with a full compliment of staff including Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Care Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and administrative support. As a team we are supportive of each other, value communication but also value each others roles within the practice. NHS Pension applies to this role.
a.Undertake new patient health checks
b.Support the practice nurse with health promotionprogrammes
c.Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery,blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
d.Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patientsaccordingly
e.Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks asrequired
f.Support the practice nurse with the management of chronicdisease clinics
g.Carry out BMI checks as directed
h.Act as a chaperone as required
i.When trained, undertake venepuncture
j.When trained, administer flu vaccinations and otherinjections under PSD
k.When trained, carry out ear irrigation under thesupervison of the practice nurse
l.Carry out ECGs as requested
m.Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onwardtransportation
n.Provide support during minor operations as required
o.Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked andprepared for each session
p.Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance withextant guidance
q.Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas andsharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
r.Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
Secondary Responsibilities
Inaddition to the primary responsibilities, the healthcare assistant may berequested to:
a.Participate in practice audit as directed by the aduitlead
b.Participate in local initiatives to enhance servicedelivery and patient care
c.Support and participate in shared learning within thepractice
d.Complete opening and closing procedures in accordancewith the duty rota
