Wraparound Care Assistant

Grade 1 • £24,796 (Pro rata) • Permanent, term-time only, 25 hours per week
Monday – Friday 07:00 am – 08:30 am and 14:45 pm – 18:15 pm

About the Role

The Governors of Springmoor Grange School are seeking a highly motivated, caring, positive and enthusiastic person to join our wraparound team. This position ensures a stimulating and fulfilling environment for children.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with carrying out activities and programmes consistent with the children’s interests and stages of development, their family and the local community.
  • Assist with the care of the children, ensuring they are supervised at all times and that high standards of service delivery are maintained and all procedures are adhered to.
  • Prepare healthy balanced snacks for the children, including fruit and vegetables, in a kitchen environment, observing correct food hygiene/handling procedures at all times to safeguard health and wellbeing of children and staff.
  • Work as part of the team, communicating effectively and ensuring any relevant information is shared or passed on to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Have awareness of child protection issues and special educational needs and report any concerns to the Wraparound care supervisor so appropriate action can be taken quickly to safeguard the child’s welfare.
  • Attend any training courses relevant to the post, ensuring continual personal and professional development.
  • Ability to present oneself as a role model to pupils in speech, dress, behaviour and attitude.
  • Maintain accident records as required.
  • Provide pastoral care and support to sick and injured children, taking appropriate action as necessary and ensuring parents and school staff are fully informed of incidents and accidents.
  • Converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English – essential for the post.
Employment Details

This position is paid whole-time with retainer adjustments applied to periods of school closure; you will not be required to work during the school closure periods, however your salary in these periods will be adjusted accordingly in line with the retainer regulations as specified in the National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book agreement.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Applicants must hold a qualification that meets the approved ‘full and relevant’ criteria for Early Years qualifications and inclusion in staffing ratios.
  • Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met.
  • Applicants must be prepared to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure.
