Meeting New Horizons
A leading NHS trust is seeking a Band 6 nurse to join the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, caring for patients aged 13-20. The role involves supporting treatments such as chemotherapy and bone marrow transplantation while being part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must be registered nurses with at least two years of relevant experience. This position offers training to facilitate promotion to Band 6.
This Band 6 nurse training post (adult or paediatric registrant) is for our Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, caring for young people aged 13–20 years. We are offering a Band 6 training post that supports you to progress from a Band 5 nurse with at least two years haematology/oncology experience. The 6-month ward placement as a Band 5 nurse will help you gain confidence and achieve the required competencies; if objectives are met within 6 months, you will be offered the Band 6 post with no need to interview again. You will care for patients undergoing treatments including bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, within a multidisciplinary team.
UCLH is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, providing academically-led acute and specialist services across eight sites. The Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) service focuses on treating the whole young person, not just the cancer, with a dedicated team and state-of-the-art, age-appropriate facilities.
Main duties include contributing to the safe, efficient delivery of care for young people with cancer and haematology-related conditions, coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team, and supporting a range of treatments including chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation and radiotherapy.
