A leading health care provider in Plymouth is seeking a Community Phlebotomy to support patient care by performing venepuncture and blood sample collection. This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on high-quality patient care. Main duties of the job

To be a Community Phlebotomy your role is vital in terms ofsupporting peoples care through by undertaking venepuncture, blood pressure andcollecting samples from patients in the communityensuring patients safety and personal safety through adhering to Livewellprotocols, policies, procedures and relevant Health and Safety legislation atall times.

You will be required to be an autonomous practitioner and ateam player. Be responsible for developing your competencies in venepunctureand clinical observations.

You be required to undertake a robust induction, allocateda mentor to support your learning to develop in your role.

We offer training in line with the required competenciesfor you to build on your knowledge, experience, and skills. You will beexpected to undertake continued learning with accessibility to accreditedcourses.

Have the ability to travelacross Plymouth.

Job responsibilities

7.1. The post holder is a member of theCommunity Nursing Team who generally works independently and participates inthe assessment of care needs which includes observation of any changes in thepatient’s condition and reports findings to the most appropriate Clinician.

7.2. Following a Registered Nurse orAssistant Practitioners assessment of need the post holder will then follow andimplement a planned programme of care, with the support of a Registered Nursefrom within the team.

7.3. Unplanned care may be included onadvice of Registered Nurse or Assistant Practitioner. If circumstances changespecific clinician duties may be undertaken in the patients own homes, CareHome settings or other community locations.

7.4. To adhere to the Healthcare SupportWorker (HCSW) Code of Conduct, Standards and Competencies

8. Dimensionsand context of role:

8.1. The Post holder is a member of the Community Nursing Service,working under the direction of the District Nursing Team.

8.2. The core role is to collect blood samples by Venepuncture from patientsin the community ensuring patients safety and personal safety through adheringto LiveWell SouthWest protocols, policies, procedures and relevant Health andSafety legislation at all times.

8.3. They will undertake apatient’s blood pressure and report back to the designated District Nurse orGP.
