This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring planning officer to start their Development Management career or a current Development Management Officer seeking the next step to handle more complex planning applications.

You will need to work to tight deadlines and service level agreements to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Responsibilities include handling a wide range of planning applications, offering pre-application advice, processing planning applications and appeals, and negotiating with developers and third parties.

For grade SO1/2, candidates should demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the town planning system, the ability to produce high-standard written reports, and a commitment to a career pathway towards RTPI membership and becoming a chartered town planner, such as enrolling in an RTPI course.

For grade PO1, candidates must be eligible for RTPI membership—either through an RTPI-accredited degree (minimum level 4 in Town Planning) here or by demonstrating 10+ years of experience as a town planner.
