As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead a technical area within the Commercial and Investment Banking Payments Technology team and drive impact across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee complex projects and initiatives, serving as a primary decision-maker and fostering innovation and solution delivery.
You will promote impactful changes across teams, technologies, and projects, managing multiple complex initiatives. JPMorgan Chase processes payments averaging $10 trillion, representing 24% of the market, and continuously innovates with new payment methods like JP Coin, expanding into new markets, and enhancing settlement speeds such as real-time payments. These advancements require sophisticated technologies to meet regulatory demands and sustain business momentum.
If you are passionate about solving intricate engineering challenges with cutting-edge technologies, including AI and ML, join us in transforming regulatory reporting within the Payments sector. This role is centered in the EMEA region, where evolving regulations and market expansion into areas like the UAE demand sustainable technological solutions. You will lead a team of 25+ professionals, including 3-4 direct-report managers, driving innovation, stakeholder management, and team alignment with strategic goals.
Job Responsibilities- Lead technology and process implementations to achieve strategic objectives.
- Be accountable for decisions affecting resources, budgets, operations, and process execution.
- Ensure governance over coding decisions, control obligations, and success metrics such as cost of ownership and maintainability.
- Deliver scalable technical solutions across multiple domains.
- Influence peers and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
- Promote a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
- Possess deep expertise in cloud implementations and security controls.
- Adopt newer technologies, including AI and ML.
- Implement reliable platforms with high availability (triple nines or more).
- Maintain a problem-solving mindset.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills- Formal training or certification in software engineering and proven experience leading technologists to solve complex technical issues.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams of technologists.
- Proven ability in hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
- Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
- Hands-on cloud-native experience.
- Expertise in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
- Deep knowledge of technologies like Pyspark, AWS Cloud, Databricks, Java.
- Experience implementing scaled platforms.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills- Experience coding at a detailed level.
- Understanding of EMEA regulatory landscape.
- Adept at working across multiple time zones.
- Subject matter expertise in Payments.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in software or data engineering preferred.
