We’re looking for a Lead Service Technician to maintain, service, and support solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the UK. This role is ideal for a fully qualified electrician with leadership skills and a passion for clean, sustainable technology.
As a Lead Service Technician in renewable energy, you will:
- Deliver service, warranty, and maintenance support for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery storage systems
- Plan workloads during weekly meetings with the operations team
- Organise tools, equipment, and stock for site visits
- Accurately complete all vehicle loading/unloading and transit paperwork
- Supervise subcontractors and team members on site
- Liaise with manufacturers to commission systems and troubleshoot issues
- Maintain digital job records via mobile apps and request customer feedback
- Leave all worksites clean, safe, and to a high standard
- Communicate updates with customers and internal teams
- Support warehouse and customer service tasks when office-based
- Follow all UK Health & Safety procedures and promote safe working practices
- Operate a company vehicle in line with UK driving laws
- Work at height or in confined spaces as required
- Participate in occupational health assessments and training programmes
- Fully qualified electrician (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds 2365 or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical roles
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office & mobile workforce apps)
- Full UK driving licence and good driving record
- High awareness of risk assessments and H&S compliance
- Physically fit, able to carry out manual handling tasks (training provided)
- Calm under pressure, with strong problem-solving skills
- Experience with solar PV and battery storage systems
- Confined space or working-at-height certification
- Familiarity with mobile field service platforms
