Job summary
A leading education agency in Rotherham is seeking an Autism (ASD) Specialist Teaching Assistant. The role involves supporting students with Autism and/or Pathological Demand Avoidance in both primary and secondary units. This temporary position has the potential to become permanent after a successful 12-week placement. Essential qualifications include recent experience working with ASD in a relevant setting and a good level of physical fitness. Candidates must exhibit patience and empathy while under the direction of the class teacher.

Unique School Solutions are working with a specialist school in Rotherham who are needing Autism (ASD) specialist Teaching Assistants to work in both their primary and secondary units, supporting students with Autism (ASD) and/or Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The role is to start ASAP and for the right person could lead to a permanent job after 12 weeks.

- Supportive and well organised leadership team
- Previous experience working with children or adults with ASD and/or PDA. This needs to be within the last 2 years, and within a school/residential/social care setting.
- A good level of physical fitness. This is a demanding role.
- Patience, empathy and calmness.
- The ability to work under the direction of the class teacher as well as using own initiative.
- Personal care and Makaton experience is desirable but not essential
- The support of an experienced team of specialist consultants as well as a dedicated consultant who will be your point of contact from start to finish.
